Island Bird Suite - First Floor King Waterfront Suite in St. Michaels

The Island Bird Suite is tucked away from the Main House in a quiet, ground-floor setting overlooking the St. Michaels Harbor in St Michaels, Maryland. With its own entrance, private terrace, separate kitchenette, and king bedroom, it offers more privacy than a traditional guest room.

French doors open into the kitchenette, which includes a custom mahogany counter, galley sink, microwave, small refrigerator and freezer, Keurig coffee and tea station, and a whiskey-barrel table.

The separate bedroom has a king-size bed with fresh linens, exposed beams, and a high vaulted ceiling. The bathroom includes a shower, fresh towels, makeup cloths, a hair dryer, and complimentary toiletries.

Outside, the terrace sits beneath a pergola and faces the harbor. It is a quiet place to have coffee in the morning and watch the light change across the water.

A More Private Stay on the Harbor

Island Bird has a separate entrance, kitchenette, terrace, king bed, and ground-floor access for up to two guests. Its location apart from the Main House gives guests more independence, while the kitchenette and terrace make longer stays comfortable.

Dogs are welcome for a $50 fee, making the suite a convenient option for couples traveling with a dog.

The Story of Island Bird

The suite is named for Island Bird, a Chesapeake Bay log canoe built on Tilghman Island, Maryland, in 1882 by William Sydney Covington.

The canoe is owned by the Honorable John C. North II, Mr. Covington’s great-great-grandson, and continues to race under sail number 4.

Its story connects the suite to the boatbuilding traditions, family histories, and log canoe races that remain part of life on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
