The Story of Island Lark
The suite is named for Island Lark, a Chesapeake Bay log canoe built on Tilghman Island, Maryland, in 1901.
The canoe was purchased by the du Pont brothers in 1977 and rebuilt sometime afterward. At the time, the brothers also owned Higgins Yacht Yard.
Island Lark continues to race under sail number 16, carrying on a Chesapeake Bay sailing tradition that has lasted for generations.
