This location is especially convenient for guests arriving by boat or planning time on the water during their stay in St. Michaels.
The Chesapeake Bay Story of Magic
The suite is named for Magic, a Chesapeake Bay log canoe built in 1894 in St. Mary’s Square in St. Michaels, Maryland.
Magic is owned and skippered by Jon Clarke, owner of the Log Canoe Inn. The canoe has been in his family since 1923.
Jon’s great-great-grandfather, Captain Green, owned and skippered the log canoe Mary Rider, which is also the namesake of the inn’s Mary Rider Room.
Magic still races under sail number 3 and is known for her black staysail. Her story ties the suite to the Chesapeake Bay’s long tradition of log canoe racing, boatbuilding, and family stewardship.
