The Log Canoe Inn is a six-room waterfront inn in the St. Michaels Historic District, overlooking St. Michaels Harbor on the Chesapeake Bay. Named after the region’s historic log canoe sailing vessels, the inn blends authentic coastal heritage with modern comfort.

The property features two historic buildings. The Main House, featuring three luxury guest rooms, combines two original residences built in 1790 and 1810, preserving period architecture and character. The Sail Shed is a charming cottage-style building, constructed before the 1950s, located adjacent to the main house. The Sail Shed features three dog-friendly rooms, each with a private entrance. Guests can choose from six upscale rooms and suites with historic ambiance, modern amenities, and complimentary continental breakfast.

Shops, restaurants, museums, and attractions throughout the St. Michaels Historic District are less than half a mile from the inn. Guests may arrive by car or by boat at Higgins Yacht Yard and Marina, with access to private off-street parking and on-site boat slips. Most visitors to St. Michaels notice the harbor views and historic streets. Fewer realize they're standing in the birthplace of one of America's oldest sailboat racing traditions. From Indigenous dugouts to the towering-masted racers that still fly across the Miles River each summer, the log canoe has shaped this town for nearly two centuries and gives every guest room at our inn its name.

St. Michaels Celebrates America 250

Four days of America 250 events happened in June: the Naval Academy's Electric Brigade playing at Muskrat Park at dusk, a thirteen-stop walking tour keyed to the thirteen colonies, a Flag Day picnic at the Maritime Museum, and decorated boats running the harbor and up the Miles River. All of it within walking distance of the inn.
